POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Division Accountant/Analyst supports the Division Finance Partner with financial statement analysis, calculation of complex accounting entries, results review/validation, report production/validation, and commission accruals/payments. This role acts as a conduit between the Division Finance Partner and the GL Accountant. This role does not input journal entries into SAP rather this role prepares the journal entry calculations, reviews with the Division Finance Partner who approves the entry. This role is responsible supporting the Division with reports/information as requested.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES % Time
1 Close Process· Financial statement analysis and review.· Calculate and prepare complex journal entries adjustment. · Prepare and distribute trial balance and other accounting related reports to Division Finance Partner 30
2 Reporting – Monthly, Quarterly, Annual· Prepare and distribute ad-hoc reports as necessary – marketing reports, advertising reports, sample reports, implementation etc.· Run daily sales report, monthly sales report and product lines reports· Prepare and distribute financial reports to the Division (refer to Reporting Listing) 30
3 Management Reporting· Development of management reports – issue a summarized monthly sales/expense analysis to all Departments Head 20
4 Commission Calculations· Calculation of Division commission expenses and commission payouts. 10
5 Process Change/Standardization· Assist in process improvements and standardizing processes across divisions. 10
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Required: · Bachelors Degree in accounting and/or Finance· Understanding of US GAAP· Knowledge and understanding of leading practices for accounting processes· Minimum 5+ years experience in a Corporate Accounting group with a focus on accounting or financial reporting/general ledger work · Understanding of accounting and how accounting links to business decisions· One to five years of experience in SAP-enabled process environment Preferred:· Experience with process improvement methodologies· Experience with Educational Publishing
