Stragetic Research Analyst - Museum of Fine Art, Boston, MA

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Under the supervision of the Director of Strategic Research and
Analysis, will be responsible for a number of activities related to
research and analysis in support of the MFA's audience building
efforts and monitoring the MFA versus its strategic planning goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manage all onsite surveying of visitors (e.g., monitoring visitor
satisfaction, testing exhibitions)
Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to conduct surveys
Create survey instruments
Analyze survey results
Present results to museum colleagues, serve as liaison for follow-up questions
Generate monthly attendance report
Update attendance statistics on a monthly basis
Manage relationships with major museums to obtain benchmark information
Determine explanations for MFA-specific trends in attendance by
discussing results with relevant people throughout the organization
Track other trends that affect attendance (e.g., economy, the weather)
Write attendance report for review by the Management Team
· Perform geographic analysis of MFA visitors on an ongoing
basis, including a monthly zip code report. Work on a methodology to
determine the MFA's share of the tourism market.
· Assist in monitoring the Museum's results versus strategic
planning goals
Liaise with various areas of the Museum to obtain results
Assess metrics versus goal
Conduct audience testing to assess audience-building goals
· In conjunction with survey testing of exhibitions, perform
financial analysis of MFA exhibitions
Run regression analysis to determine attendance ranges
Work with financial model to estimate other relevant revenues and
expenses related to exhibitions
Expand analysis to include smaller galleries within the Museum
· Perform additional research and analysis as needed,
including the following:
Pilot testing of various initiatives
Maintaining up-to-date demographic information on local market
Analyzing the drivers of general admission attendance
· Perform other duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS:
The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston is looking for a Strategic Research
Analyst to support the Director of Strategic Research and Analysis.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree (degree in Marketing, Business, or Finance a plus)
· Critical/strategic thinker with ability identify new
opportunities for research
· Sharp analytical skills, and a desire to apply these skills
in an art museum context (knowledge of statistics a plus)
· Significant experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
(experience with Microsoft Access and SPSS a plus)
· Strong communication skills, including the ability to
explain complex analysis in a straightforward way to colleagues across
the organization (both written and oral)
· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage volunteers
· Strong project management skills, ability to manage complex
processes and juggle multiple tasks
· One year of work experience or internship experience in a
marketing/business context
